National Hobby Month: Photography

Close up of a spider on it’s web

Happy New Year from all of us here at Koné Consulting. We are well into January and New Year’s resolutions are either in full swing or have been completely forgotten. Some folks choose to start new things while others recommit to past goals. January 2024 is also National Hobby Month so I wanted to share with you all what hobby I am going to recommit to.

For the past 4 years, I start craving the outdoors. I dislike the cold so much but I also dislike being trapped inside all day, so when I start noticing that the sun is peeking over the trees a little earlier and the birds chirp a bit sooner, I start getting excited. I know too well how briefly the longer days and warmer weather will last.

I started photography to capture my favorite part of the year and also have an excuse to get outdoors. It is fun to pick up and learn new and challenging things but sometimes it can also lead to frustration. After images that were less than satisfactory to me, and a busy schedule, I took a break for a whole season.

Last winter, all I could think about is the pictures I missed out on taking and the places I didn’t make myself go. So this year, I am recommitting to learning and practicing my photography. Using the goal setting, planning and management skills I have gained from being a part of the Koné Team, I am hoping to put together the next KC calendar using my images.

Please tell us what hobby you are recommitting to in the comments!
